30 Million+ Monster Score

Some time ago, we received an email titled “You’re not going to believe this one“. The email was from Tobias Amaranth, an avid supporter of Triangle Studios and a gamer who is obviously addicted to playing Heron on his Wii! The image we found attached to the email displayed the monster score of 30.232.000 points! By far the highest score we’ve ever seen achieved on the Wii up until this point. Tobias, our hats are off to you!

It’s been some time since Heron: Steam Machine was launched, but it’s great to see that people are still keeping us up to date with their latest efforts, and sending us highscores. If you think you can do better than Tobias, make sure to let us know. And we’ll put you in the spotlight on our website

This weekend, we had a sale on Heron: Steam Machine for the iPhone, and what a sale it was! The game was featured on AppEvent.com and Plusplus.com, where we kicked off the sale on Friday night. In the two days that followed, over 20.000 people around the world were able to get their hands on the game! Thanks to this, the game rocketed up the carts and got in the Top 10 Free Games List in several countries!

On top of that, the Free to Play Flash version of the game has reached 150.000 plays in just a matter of 2 weeks! Very impressive if I may say so!

Below are some of the reviews published in the AppStore this weekend, it looks like the Heron: Steam Machine family has grown quite a bit!

Very Nice game, i just found out it can be played on the wii also! I will love to Play this game on the Wii against my gf! No need to swap THE phone anymore This game is great!

I’m actually kind of upset I didn’t notice this game sooner! Probably one of the best unnoticed games on the App Store! I’ll be sure to tell all of my friends about it… after the price goes up because I’d like to help as much as possible with the sales of this fantastic game!

One of those games you don’t ever want to delete on your iPhone! Very hard to stop playing. Can’t go wrong if you buy this game if you love puzzels. You will love this game.

Highscores

We already posted once about an insane Heron highscore (6.426.500) on the Wii. But we received this picture from Hayo who set a dazzling new highscore:

This must be the new all-time highscore for the Wii version.

2009 in Retrospect

On the final day of the year, it’s a great moment to look back and see what we have achieved over the past twelve months. 2009 has been a very good year for Triangle Studios. Two of the most remarkable events were the establishment of Triangle Works, the new software development studio for all things related to the internet. Secondly, the launch of Triangle’s first independently published title; Heron: Steam Machine.

Besides that, a LOT of new games were published in the past year. In total 7 new DS titles were released in Europe, and 2 more in the US! Add to those the development of several iPhone and Flash games and you’ll clearly see that we’ve been very busy indeed.

There will be some very cool things in 2010 of course, we’ll start the year with a bang, launching Heron in the US on January 4th. We’ve also started development on our next big title for Playstation 3 and will be developing more cool games for DS and iPhone. In short, there are a lot of reasons to keep track of Triangle Studios in the following year. Have a great New Year’s Eve, and see you in 2010!

Weird things are happening, while making a video tutorial for Heron, the iPod we used during the shoot suddendly bursted out with steam! You probably want to see it for yourself, that is why we’ve uploaded the footage to YouTube!

Remco pakt de JOP 2009 Publieksprijs!

Gisteravond was het eindelijk zover, de avond van de Jonge Ondernemersprijs 2009! In het mooi aangeklede Partytown in Assen waren zo’n 250 man bij elkaar gekomen voor de uitreiking. Onder begeleiding van het duo Mier is het een hele gezellige avond geworden, met als hoogtepunt de uitreiking van de prijs. Remco is er namens Triangle Studios vandoor gegaan met een geweldige publieksprijs! De Juryprijs is gegaan naar Erik Dijkstra van GOOI Design, van harte gefeliciteerd! Remco in de finale van JOP 2009!

Goed nieuws! Remco is genomineerd voor de Jonge Ondernemersprijs 2009! De finale van deze wedstrijd zal plaatsvinden op 24 November 2009. De JOP wordt dit jaar voor de achtste keer uitgereikt. Met deze prijs willen de organisatie veelbelovende ondernemers uit Groningen, Drenthe en Friesland gestart tussen 1 januari 2004 en 31 december 2007 een extra stimulans geven. De andere genomineerden zijn Peter van Eijl van Doppio Espresso en Erik Dijkstra van GOOI Design.

Tijdens de finale wordt tevens een korte film getoond van de verschillende bedrijven. Triangle Studios heeft in ieder geval een goede indruk gemaakt tijdens de opnames!

Van de ene verbazing in de andere vielen we toen we in Leeuwarden bij Remco de Rooij van Triangle Studios gingen kijken. Remco ontwerpt en ontwikkelt samen met een team specialisten video games. Een wandeling langs de verschillende units leverde ons een kijkje op in de keuken van het maken van video spelletje. Wat komt daar allemaal bij kijken, zeg! Elk onderdeel heeft zijn eigen specialist, de een is goed in tekenen, de ander goed in muziek eronder bedenken, de derde zorgt voor een verhaallijn en de vierde zorgt dat de beelden gaan bewegen. Enfin, en zo kan ik nog wel even doorgaan.

We wensen de drie heren succes tijdens de finale!
