We’re blogging about our new project Cross of the Dutchman since September 1st and our development team is already making progress with the development. The project has been in our hearts and heads for some years now. It’s fantastic to see the game progress and grow into something big. But we’re still missing some essential skills within our team. We had some potential candidates but fate made sure it never happened. That’s why we’ve opened a jobs section on www.crossofthedutchman.com. Currently we’re looking for a 3D artist and a 3D animator.

We have a great creative and dedicated team. So if you are an artist with these skills and think you are an addition to our team then head over to the jobs section and apply! Or if you know someone with these skills, then please forward them to us.

At the Festival of Games 2010, OneBigGame founder Martin de Ronde was asked to give a keynote speech on the purpose and future projects at OneBigGame. During this presentation, two designers and developers from OneBigGame projects were invited on stage to give their view on the projects they have been working on so far. Masaya Matsuura and Remco de Rooij were invited to stalk about OneBigGames’ next release; WINtA. David Perry spoke about his upcoming iPad game project. It’s been pretty quiet during the summer holiday, but have no fear, we have been working tirelessly on some cool new stuff. One of the most important things that is coming up in the near future is that Triangle CEO, Remco de Rooij will talk about WINtA and the design challenges we’re facing when bringing this brand new game to a different platform. Together with One Big Game’s Martin de Ronde, the hour long session will be held on Wednesday, October 6th at the GDC Online in Austin, TX.

30 Million+ Monster Score

Some time ago, we received an email titled “You’re not going to believe this one“. The email was from Tobias Amaranth, an avid supporter of Triangle Studios and a gamer who is obviously addicted to playing Heron on his Wii! The image we found attached to the email displayed the monster score of 30.232.000 points! By far the highest score we’ve ever seen achieved on the Wii up until this point. Tobias, our hats are off to you!

It’s been some time since Heron: Steam Machine was launched, but it’s great to see that people are still keeping us up to date with their latest efforts, and sending us highscores. If you think you can do better than Tobias, make sure to let us know. And we’ll put you in the spotlight on our website

iGreenpeace available today!

We’re very happy to announce that our collaboration with Greenpeace delivered this beautiful App called: iGreenpeace. And it is available today! It features Alex the Penguin and he loves good food, friends, naughty tricks and playing games, just like many of us do. He lives at the South Pole and has been experiencing problems due to global warming. As he has realised that politicians and business men are slow to act on this major threat to people, penguins and the planet, Alex has set up his own campaign to make things better together with you and Greenpeace. This weekend, we had a sale on Heron: Steam Machine for the iPhone, and what a sale it was! The game was featured on AppEvent.com and Plusplus.com, where we kicked off the sale on Friday night. In the two days that followed, over 20.000 people around the world were able to get their hands on the game! Thanks to this, the game rocketed up the carts and got in the Top 10 Free Games List in several countries!

On top of that, the Free to Play Flash version of the game has reached 150.000 plays in just a matter of 2 weeks! Very impressive if I may say so!

Below are some of the reviews published in the AppStore this weekend, it looks like the Heron: Steam Machine family has grown quite a bit!

I’m actually kind of upset I didn’t notice this game sooner! Probably one of the best unnoticed games on the App Store! I’ll be sure to tell all of my friends about it… after the price goes up because I’d like to help as much as possible with the sales of this fantastic game!

One of those games you don’t ever want to delete on your iPhone! Very hard to stop playing. Can’t go wrong if you buy this game if you love puzzels. You will love this game.

Highscores

We already posted once about an insane Heron highscore (6.426.500) on the Wii. But we received this picture from Hayo who set a dazzling new highscore:

This must be the new all-time highscore for the Wii version.

2009 in Retrospect

On the final day of the year, it’s a great moment to look back and see what we have achieved over the past twelve months. 2009 has been a very good year for Triangle Studios. Two of the most remarkable events were the establishment of Triangle Works, the new software development studio for all things related to the internet. Secondly, the launch of Triangle’s first independently published title; Heron: Steam Machine.

Besides that, a LOT of new games were published in the past year. In total 7 new DS titles were released in Europe, and 2 more in the US! Add to those the development of several iPhone and Flash games and you’ll clearly see that we’ve been very busy indeed.

There will be some very cool things in 2010 of course, we’ll start the year with a bang, launching Heron in the US on January 4th. We’ve also started development on our next big title for Playstation 3 and will be developing more cool games for DS and iPhone. In short, there are a lot of reasons to keep track of Triangle Studios in the following year. Have a great New Year’s Eve, and see you in 2010!
